Το μυθιστόρημα της Sara Mesa, γεμάτο σιωπές και παρεξηγήσεις, προκαταλήψεις και υπονοούμενα, ταμπού και παραβιάσεις, φέρνει τον αναγνώστη αντιμέτωπο με τα όρια της ηθικής του. Η Sara Mesa (Σάρα Μέσα) γεννήθηκε στη Μαδρίτη το 1976 και σε μικρή ηλικία μετακόμισε με την οικογένειά της στη Σεβίλλη, όπου και κατοικεί μέχρι σήμερα. Έχει σπουδάσει δημοσιογραφία και ισπανική φιλολογία. Αρχικά αφοσιώθηκε στην ποίηση. Η ποιητική της συλλογή Este jilguero agenda απέσπασε το Βραβείο Ποίησης Miguel Hernández 2007. Είναι δημοφιλής κυρίως για το αφηγηματικό της έργο. Το βιβλίο της Cuatro por Cuatro (2013) ήταν στη βραχεία λίστα για το βραβείο μυθιστορήματος Herralde, ενώ το Cicatriz (2015) απέσπασε το Bραβείο El Ojo Crítico και χαρακτηρίστηκε από τις εφημερίδες El País, El Mundo και ABC ως ένα από τα καλύτερα μυθιστορήματα της χρονιάς.
