Ένας οίκος ανοχής με νόμιμη άδεια λειτουργίας είναι ίσως το τελευταίο μέρος όπου περιμένουμε να συναντήσουμε μια οικονομολόγο. Η Allison Schrager, ωστόσο, δεν είναι συνηθισμένη περίπτωση οικονομολόγου. Το ερώτημα, συνεπώς, δεν είναι αν θα αναλάβουμε κάποιους κινδύνους, αλλά ποιοι κίνδυνοι ενδείκνυνται για εμάς. Εκείνο που οι περισσότεροι δεν γνωρίζουμε είναι ότι υπάρχουν τρόποι μέτρησης των κινδύνων, οι οποίοι μεγιστοποιούν την πιθανότητα να επιτύχουμε αυτό που επιθυμούμε.
Στο βιβλίο της, η Schrager μάς διηγείται τις ιστορίες μερικών ιδιαίτερα ριψοκίνδυνων περιπτώσεων και μέσω αυτών μας παρουσιάζει τις πέντε βασικές αρχές για τον χειρισμό της διακινδύνευσης. Συγκεκριμένα:
- την αρχή «Δίχως διακινδύνευση δεν υπάρχει ανταμοιβή», που ακολουθεί ένας παπαράτσι του Μανχάταν στο κυνήγι του χρυσού ενσταντανέ
- την αρχή «Δρω παράλογα και το γνωρίζω», την οποία εφαρμόζει ένας επαγγελματίας παίκτης του πόκερ όταν η διακύβευση είναι υψηλή
- την αρχή «Διακινδύνευσε λιγότερο και ανταμείψου περισσότερο», με βάση την οποία ένα ιπποφορβείο του Κεντάκι αναπαράγει μεγαλύτερη ποικιλία αλόγων ελαχιστοποιώντας τη ζημία του
- την αρχή «Να είσαι αφέντης στο σπίτι σου», με την οποία ένας σέρφερ στη Χαβάη απολαμβάνει την περιπέτεια των μεγάλων κυμάτων μειώνοντας παράλληλα την προσωπική του διακινδύνευση
- την αρχή «Η ζωή ενέχει αβεβαιότητα», με την οποία ένας στρατηγός του πολέμου στον Κόλπο προνοεί ενώπιον απροσδόκητων εξελίξεων.
Εξετάζοντας παρακινδυνευμένες αποφάσεις υπό το νέο πρίσμα της Schrager, μπορείτε να αυξήσετε και εσείς τις καλές προοπτικές σας και να μετριάσετε τις αρνητικές τροπές.
