Ο Χάλιντ Χαλίφα συγκαταλέγεται στους κορυφαίους λογοτέχνες της Μέσης Ανατολής. Στο μυθιστόρημά του Ο θάνατος είναι ζόρικη δουλειά γράφει με τρόπο συγκινητικό για τον φόβο, την παράνοια και τις κακουχίες που συνοδεύουν τη ζωή σε ένα αυταρχικό κράτος. Με φόντο την εμπόλεμη πατρίδα του και εμπνευσμένος από τον Γουίλιαμ Φώκνερ, ο Σύρος συγγραφέας καταθέτει ένα σύντομο αλλά συγκινητικό μυθιστόρημα για τις ανθρώπινες και οικογενειακές σχέσεις που δοκιμάζονται σε ακραίες συνθήκες. Βλέπουμε τρεις ανθρώπους οι οποίοι καλούνται, κυρίως, να ανακαλύψουν τον εαυτό τους. Ένα μυθιστόρημα που, με αφορμή τον θάνατο, μιλά για τη ζωή.
