Γιατί ο αφηγητής έχει δέσει τον αδελφό του και του μιλά, χωρίς να
περιμένει απάντηση; Τι κρύβεται πίσω από το προσωνύμιο
«Πυθαγόρας», που έχει αποκτήσει ο αμίλητος αδελφός; Ο αφηγητής
είναι εξοργισμένος και λυπημένος, καθώς δυο χρόνια τώρα, τα πρώτα
χρόνια της οικονομικής κρίσης, αντιμετωπίζει τη σιωπή του Πυθαγόρα,
ο οποίος έχει σταματήσει κάθε επαφή με τον μεγάλο αδελφό του.
Ο αφηγητής αναζητεί μια χαραμάδα να μάθει, να καταλάβει, να
συνειδητοποιήσει ποιος είναι ο βαθύτερος λόγος γι’ αυτήν την αναίτια
διαμάχη. Η πορεία των εικασιών οδηγεί κλιμακωτά στην αποκάλυψη
ότι η αδελφική σύγκρουση αντικατοπτρίζει μια ευρύτερη κοινωνική
διπολικότητα.
Η ιστορία του Πυθαγόρα είναι η προσωπική πλευρά ενός κοινωνικού
διχασμού, ενός αδελφικού εμφύλιου που υποκρύπτει επαγωγικά μια
πολιτική διάσταση. Πίσω από την εξιστορούμενη απόσταση, κρύβεται
η αποστροφή προς έναν ρατσιστικό, εθνικιστικό λόγο και πράξεις, η
ντροπή για μια στάση ζωής που εχθρεύεται τους άλλους και εκδικείται
τη διαφορετικότητα.

Ο Γιώργος Ν. Περαντωνάκης γεννήθηκε στην Αθήνα το 1972. Σπούδασε
Φιλολογία στο Πανεπιστήμιο Αθηνών όπου και εκπόνησε τη διδακτορική
του διατριβή με θέμα «Από την τεχνική του μοντάζ στην τεχνική του
κολλάζ (στη σύγχρονη ελληνική πεζογραφία)». Ασχολείται κυρίως με τη
σύγχρονη πεζογραφία και τη μελέτη της κριτικής. Έχει συνεργαστεί ως
κριτικός λογοτεχνίας σε ποικίλα έντυπα, όπως το Διαβάζω, η
Ελευθεροτυπία, η www.bookpress.gr, η Εφημερίδα των Συντακτών κ.ά.
